Description

Hoagland Custom, located in sunny Fernandina Beach, Florida, has specialized in custom guitar wiring and pickup making for over 25 years…

& we love what we do!

Hoagland Custom’s “Bill Lawrence” mod designed by Bill Lawrence and built to coax the best possible tone out of your existing pickups and it gives you some GREAT options!

Whenever possible, we use all USA-made parts.  Handcrafted one at a time and not built until you place your order.
This “Bill Lawrence” Tele wiring harness has been additionally modded to work with 2 splittable humbuckers & the Hoagland Custom “Dual Cap” tone control!
Your humbuckers must have 4 or 5 wires to function correctly with this wiring harness.
If you have ever wished that you had the benefit of 2 different values of caps to roll into your tone, this is your harness! This features a .022mfd cap (normally used for humbuckers) and a .047mfd value cap (normally used on single coils) installed on the tone control. The center point of this tone control (“5”) rolls in zero amount of cap. When you roll it down toward “0”, it rolls in one cap value and when you roll it up toward “10”, it rolls in the other cap value.

Easy installation.

Bill Lawrence (his real name was Willi Lorenz Stich) was born in Germany in 1931 and became one of the country’s best guitarists of the post-WWII era. He was a busy session musician and jazz player who performed under the name Billy Lorento. Later on, he started a second career in the guitar industry under the name Bill Lawrence. He conceived many ground-breaking pickups designs as well as other musical instrument innovations. Sadly, he died in November 2013 at 82 years of age but his music and genius live on.
Here is a great article on the Bill Lawrence wiring in “Premiere Guitar Magazine”  –  Click here for the Bill Lawrence article
This Tele wiring schematic substitutes a 5-way Strat style switch in place of the Tele traditional 3-way switch, unlocking 2 new tones for the Tele!
