Description
Hoagland Custom is a guitar custom shop located in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
This is for ONE (1) custom-wound, handcrafted P-90 pickup. Can be purchased each (neck or bridge) or as a set by selecting “Set” on the dropdown menu.
It is the exact size of a humbucker and will fit your Les Paul, 335, Flying V, Tele, Strat or any other guitar that is routed for a humbucker.
Traditional P-90 pickups measure (soapbar) 85mm x 35mm or (dogear) 87mm x 40mm. Our new humbucker-sized P-90s measure 70mm x 39mm… the exact size of a humbucker.
P-90s have a shorter, wider bobbin than Telecasters or Stratocasters which gives them a little higher output and more powerful mids and lows…
These have alnico rod polepieces and NOT adjustment screws as polepieces (as shown in the picture).
Components:
- neck – wound to 7.8k
- bridge – wound to 8.8k, RWRP
- alnico 2 magnets (more sustain and a compressed attack)
- 50mm polepiece spacing
- hand scatterwound
- high quality fiber bobbins… not plastic
- wax-potted to eliminate squealing & microphonics
- vintage-style, cloth-covered leads
- handcrafted with all “Made in the USA” parts (bobbins in North Carolina, magnets in Arkansas, pickup wire in Wisconsin, lead wire in New York)
There are a lot of variables that go into creating, or recreating a tone. While each item in your signal chain is important, no one item will do the job. Pickups, along with the way your guitar is wired, are probably the most important parts in your signal chain. Changing out the pickups/wiring has the biggest impact on your sound. If you are looking to replicate a particular tone – blues, rock, jazz – THIS is where you start.
Premium quality pickups that are handwound when you order them. We can custom-tailor the winding to any spec that you’d like.
This pickup is handcrafted by Hoagland Custom and wound specifically FOR YOU. It is NOT an “off-the-shelf” pickup. It is NOT a relabeled imported pickup. We make this from scratch in our shop and it is the highest quality pickup you can buy made from 100% American made parts.
While all of our pickup & wiring solutions are built to be installed rather easily by most do-it-yourselfers, we always recommend that you have a guitar professional at your local guitar shop install them for you.
